The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says that river flooding is expected to be worse this year than last, according to their latest forecast. This can happen. According to their latest forecast, this is good news for restoration contractors as it will typically signify an increase in expected work for the next three months.

According to the report, states surrounding the Mississippi and Missouri River basins will be hit the worst. This includes the following conditions:

-Arkansas -Alabama -Georgia -Illinois -Indiana -Iowa -Kansas -Kentucky -Louisiana -Mississippi -Missouri -Ohio -Tennessee

Given this increased risk due to flooding, we recommend that any homeowner in those areas consider purchasing a flood insurance policy. A standard homeowners policy will not protect you or pay for the damages caused by flooding. Also, it’s important to remember that a flood insurance policy now carries a 30-day waiting period, so if you buy a policy, now would be the right time to consider it according to their latest forecast.
